Beginning Quilting

The basics of quilting will be covered including fabric selection, grain of fabric, care of fabric, use of specialized tools and rulers, efficiency with a rotary cutter and chain piecing. The "Math" of quilting will be discussed as blocks are chosen so that a beginner can start to visualize how to break down quilts into their component pieces and recreate them without the need to purchase a pattern. This sampler features the log cabin block, half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, flying geese, square-in-a-square blocks and snowball blocks.
