Faux-gello

You will choose a border stripe and one (or two) contrasting fabric(s) to create a "fake bargello" quilt. Borders/backing/binding can be selected afterwards if desired. Another option is to consider the use of an ombre' fabric and a stripe for the border. An example with an ombre can be seen hanging at the store
| Skill Level: | Beginner |
| Skill Details: | Required: Familiarity with general sewing, quilt piecing techniques, use of rotary cutter and personal sewing machine prior to class start |
| Materials Included: | Fabric sold separately. No pattern required. |
| Requirements: | Fabric Requirement List: 1 1/2 yard of a striped fabric (border stripe) : make sure your fabric has the stripe running the length (straight of grain) of the fabric vs selvage to selvage. Fabric with stripes of good contrast and between 1 inch to 3 inches wide or LARGER work better. Stripes should not run from selvedge to selvedge! If you just love a stripe that runs from selvedge to selvedge you need 3 yards. 1/3 yard of one or two contrast fabric(s). 1 yard if you wish for this fabric to be binding as well. Border fabric is optional - the amount of fabric you need will depend upon the border size you wish to add. Do you consider an ombre a type of stripe? HMMM! If you want to use an ombre and a stripe, you will need 1.5 yards of each fabric and you will use one of the stripes as the contrast fabric and the remaining stripes as a border. (so make sure your border stripe has at least 5 repeats) So cute and so easy! Bring to class: Sewing Machine in good working order, don't forget the power cord and foot pedal. Bring thread, rotary cutter/mat/ruler (6 x 24 recommended), Pins/Scissors/Seam Ripper/Typical sewing supplies, Pencil, Your telephone camera or a camera to help you remember your decisions for this quilt |
