Collage Quilt Class - Christmas Wreath

This is NOT a class that requires a sewing machine. You will be tracing, cutting and collaging in this class. The class is listed as a Christmas Wreath, but you can do one for the fall, or for halloween, or for any reason you want a wreath!

Materials that you will need to bring:

  1. 1 fat quarter on which to build your collage.
  2. 5 to 8 fat quarters of fabric with motifs that are easily cut away from the background. Get at least 2 with very large motifs, then 2-3 with medium sized motifs, then small motifs will fit in between to complete your design
  3. 3 yards of steam a seam II Lite or steam a seam II fusible web. If you precut 9” x 12” pieces of fusible web and fuse them to the back of some of your chosen fabrics, you will be prepared to begin collaging almost immediately.
  4.  Scissors. Do not bring your “good scissors” as you will be cutting paper and fusible web. My favorite scissors are Karen K. Buckleys micro-serrated scissors with the blue handle.
  5.  pencil

To complete the quilt you will also need:

  1.       2/3 yard of back ground fabric
  2.       2/3 yard backing
  3.       25 inch square batting

HOWEVER, these items can be purchased after you have collaged your wreath. I find that I am subject to changing my mind after I have collaged and don’t want to commit too early. After all, you ARE at the A&E!

Instructor: Cena Harmon
Instructor Bio: Cena has been piecing and quilting since 1977 when she made some truly exceptional errors with her first quilt. (She'll tell you the story if you ask). She continues to learn best by error, but she has figured out most of the problems new quilters encounter.
